Who’s ever wondered what life’s like for children in care? An Australian Story of an ‘Unsung Hero’

In trying to find ‘unsung heroes’ online it is evident that the name ‘unsung’ rings true. Hence the limitation of stories that I am to find. ‘Australian Story’ is an ABC program that I used to watch now & then on a lazy Australian Sunday morning when I remembered it was on. Today I googled & found their site. FILLED with amazing stories of many ‘unsung heroes’ who have featured on their program. I have decided to share this with you as it is often these stories that are featured for 20 minutes and often forgotten with in a month.

“This story of a single woman and a successful lawyer turned real estate agent ~ Yael Abraham. But money and a good career left her feeling unfulfilled and empty.

So in her late 40s and with no children of her own, Yael took a radical step and decided to become a foster mother. In a single afternoon she became the sole parent to four troubled children. She later added two more children from the same family.Australian Story has secured rare access in conjunction with the NSW Department of Community Services to show the trials and tribulations of a successful foster parenting arrangement in action.

For anyone who’s ever wondered what life’s like for children in care, here’s a program with some of the answers.”

Where ever you are Yael Abraham (& Michelle) – THANK YOU for being my ‘Unsung Hero’ today!! ~ Kayt x
